The Hyderabad MP posed a total of 1,121 questions in the Lower House
Hyderabad : Even before storming to power, the BJP had made its presence felt in the Parliament by active participation. Statistics compiled by Team Factly show that MPs of BJP and Shiv Sena have earned the distinction of asking the most number of questions, participating in debates and introducing private member bills in Parliament. Factly is a group of information activists headed by RTI activist Rakesh Reddy Dubbudu that seeks to build data literacy in people and give them the opportunity to have an informed world view.
According to the statistics compiled, the top performers of the 15th Lok Sabha for the period 2009-2014 have been categorised into three kinds – participation in debates, asking questions and introducing private member Bills. BJP MP from Rajasthan, Arjun Ram Meghwal, stands first in debate participation having taken part in a staggering 476 debates. MP Shailendra Kumar of Samajwadi Party from Uttar Pradesh stands second with a participation record of 382 debates followed by Congress MP P L Punia with 311 debates.
