Hyderabad: Over 50 retired government employees joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Saturday in the presence of Finance Minister Eatala Rajender. Speaking at the occasion, the minister said that government employees strike during the movement for statehood was a landmark as it made the whole country take note of the situation in State. Rajender said that the employees’ acts of defiance even in the face of threat of disciplinary action by the then government were inspiring.
“I’m glad that those who actively participated in separate State agitation are now willing to work with our party to realise the dream of ‘Bangaru Telangana’ (golden State),” he said. The minister told the newly-inducted party men that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was leaving no stone unturned for making Telangana a prosperous State. “KCR’s commitment and conviction, we witnessed during the Telangana movement, remained the same even today. Though ours is a chronologically last State in the country, he wants to make Telangana among the top in terms of development,” he said.
