Hyderabad : The State government has given the job of avenue plantation under the prestigious “Telanganaku Haritha Haram” for the city roads to Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). The authority would plant over a seven lakh saplings on the city roads for this financial year. It has classified around 30 varieties of flowering species and 25 suitable non-flowering species for the event.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had instructed the authority for a schematic plantation with large number of flower bearing plants to enhance the beauty of roads in the city. HMDA Urban Forestry Director V Krishna said that they are in process to prepare the detail action plan to classify suitable saplings, manpower and budget estimates. He said that they have identified 25 nurseries for this purpose.
“The avenue plantation would be started from July with the commencement of the rainy season,” he said. He further informed that the authority is in process to identify more nurseries as they have to plant more than two crores of plants, “We are identifying nurseries in Medak and Rangareddy mandals,” he said. More plantations have to done in barren hill areas, river, canal and rivulets bank areas and urban residential colonies in HMDA jurisdiction.
