Hyderabad: GHMC has decided to seek the support of rich donors to implement the Rs 5-a-meal scheme. The philanthropists can sponsor the meal at any of the existing centers for a day. The donors, who would come forward to support the scheme, would get an appreciation certificate from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
This was revealed by GHMC(Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation ) Commissioner Somesh Kumar on Wednesday. He also said that the name of the patrons would be displayed in bold letters at the center of their choice. He said that they were also planning to open a separate bank account to receive the donations from the donors. The corporation has also decided to open another 30 centers of the scheme. It is already operating 20 Rs 5-a-meal scheme centers at various places.
The GHMC Commissioner has also decided to run mobile vans to implement the scheme. These vans would be operated in areas where the density of poor people and labourers is high.
