Hyderabad : BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya on Saturday said that the separate State of Telangana was a result of untiring efforts of the people for over 60 years and not a gift bestowed on the people by someone. Speaking at the inaugural event of the photo exhibition on ‘Telangana Poru Yatra’, the journey undertook by G Kishan Reddy in 2012 to advocate the need for a separate State, Dattatreya reminded that BJP was the first national party to demand that a Bill be introduced in Parliament for creation of Telangana. He termed ‘Telangana Poru Yatra’ as a milestone in the separate Telangana movement. BJP floor leader in the Legislative Assembly K Laxman said that the 1997 Kakinada Resolution passed by the party under the presidentship of V Rama Rao was the first ever by any political party for demanding statehood for Telangana.
