Rescued around 80 child labourers
Hyderabad : City police continuing their special drive on Thursday rescued around 80 child labourers, most of them hailing from West Bengal, who were being forced to work in hazardous industries in Hyderabad. About 80 children have been rescued and the special drives would continue till all the child labourers are rescued, south zone DCP V Satyanarayana told media. As many as five persons were arrested for employing the children.
The rescued children were working at workshops of gold ornaments polishers where toxic substances are used, he said. Earlier, in January 24 to 31, police had rescued about 380 child laborers mostly from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, who worked as bonded laborers in bangle-making units here.
