Hyderabad : The Cyberabad Police on Monday launched a one-of-its-kind expeditious passport verification system with tablet PCs, aimed at reducing the passport verification time from 13 to three days. Inaugurating the system, Cyberabad Commissioner C V Anand said that, under the Rs 16-lakh pilot project, the passport verifying officers would be available online and in sync with the server at the commissionerate.
“This is another step to provide better services to the citizens with the use of technology, thereby reducing the scope for corruption. An applicant will be able to contact the verifying officer and seek queries, as the applicant will be receiving an SMS alert with details like name and contact number of the verifying officer.”
“With the internet facility available in tabs, Special Branch officers in the field would receive the application forms directly and they can verify them at their level and directly upload them to the Commissioner’s office without having to wait for their Friday weekly meetings to submit the hard copies of the verification reports,” the Commissioner said.
