Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met Union minister for water resources Uma Bharti and invited her for inaugurating the Kakatiya programme in the State. Accepting the invitation, she promised to visit the State on May 16. The programme initiated by Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao as part of this, identified 45,000 tanks and lakes in a special intensive survey on minor irrigation tanks.
Government is planning to restore all these tanks and lakes, which can cost Rs 20,000 crore in the next five years. By restoring maximum tanks, the project can provide 270 TMC of water for agricultural, irrigational, livestock and drinking water purposes.
The Chief Minister also discussed about Pranahita-Chevella Project demanding national status for the project and demanded Godwari-pushkar project and more funds on the lines of new guidelines.
